1969 Ford XWGT Falcon
9.51 @ 143mph They don't come any tougher than this on the street

We love tough street cars and they don't come any tougher than Jason Mansweto's immaculate 1969 XW GT Falcon. This baby not only has the looks but it's got performance figures that make you drool with envy. What I love about this car is it's street sleeper looks. You look at it and think wow that's an awesome street machine, and look at those shiny Weld Wheels with skinnys up front and mini tub rears. Do you think it's for show?
Damn no... those Mickey Thompson rear street / strip tyres gave it away for me, they are a sign of a street / strip machine. Jason bought this car back when he was only 14 years old, even then he knew what he wanted to have a tough street car that meant business and he's definately achieved that. Whilst Jason was an apprentice mechanic he built this car up in a previous build and his first run on the track pulled an impressive 11.2 second run on the track at Oran park. Over the years Jason worked on his XW getting it to run an eyepopping 10.7 quarter mile time lifting both wheels in the air like a 747 going for the sky.
All that racing over the years created some wear and tear so Jason planned another rebuild to get the XW back to pristine condition. Thats when he chose to go with the classic original silver that was popular with the XW GT upgrading and changing every part available from bumper to bumper.

Jason planned engine upgrades including head work which was commissioned to his now business partner Tristian Tricass creating what we know today as Trick & Mansweto Racing. Jason has run his XWGT at a blistering best time of 9.51 @ 143mph. (stay tuned for our Trick & Mansweto Racing feature story coming soon).

What stands this car out from the crowd of tough cars is that the 100% naturally aspirated, no gas, no supercharger, nil, nothing but sheer mechanical excellence and driveline setup. Another area that surprised me was that Jason did pretty much everything on his XW himself. Yes, the mini tubs, the exhaust system are all Jason's work too. "Building a quick car isn't all about the engine, that is only 50% of the end result. The entire drivetrain has to be setup correctly", Jason told us.

There is no doubt about it that Jason's trick XW is a show stopper winning numerous awards all around the country particulary at the Summernats where he scooped more than he could carry alone. His XW has featured in numerous magazines and has made the front cover of Street Machine. Jason's GT gets the big thumbs up from us at Motore. Well done Jason.
