Nostalgic Drag Racing at WSID
28th April 2006
Cruizer magazine hosted the Nostalgic drag race meet at Western Sydney International Dragway on a great day for racing. We always find drag racing to be one of the best days out, the fuel, the rubber, the noise... it all adds to a great atmosphere that is enjoyed by everybody. Being a drag racing event for nostalgic cars, there were rods, and muscle cars right up to a vintage of the1970 muscle car era. Most cars on the day were running 10's, 11's and 12's, and as usual the boys from Trick & Mansweto were there with the XW GT and Australia's fastest naturally aspirated V8 capri which pulled a sub 8 sec pass with the 602ci Ford Big Block.
Highlights of the day including an awesome wheel stand off the line from a yellow XY Ford Falcon scraping the back bumper on the ground and had to stop once it crashed back down to the track, although the crowd thought it was fantastic... pity we missed that one in our pics but it will turn up in one of the premier drag magazines like Dragster magazine or on the nostalgia drags website, and Ben Gatts wall to wall drift in his blown injected Ford XA Coupe. There were some nice cars on display in the pit area so we've got some shots of them also.
We've got some video coming as we've invested in a better video camera, but we've had some problems so it'll be up as soon as we sort out the issues. Help us improve Motore.com.au by sending us your comments.
