Ferrari Day 2006
18th August 2006
There's nothing better than walking around your personal collection of Ferrari's wondering which one to drive along sunset boulevard. Then we woke up and decided that a Ferrari exhibition at Darling Harbour was as close as we were going to get to driving one of these baby's. Feast your eyes on classics from the Dino's to modern day V12 Marinello's. It was estimated that the combined value of all the cars on display was in excess of 25 million dollars, which we kindly offered to underwrite. It was good to see first hand, the evolution of these fine Italian automotive engineering. We were wondering how the oldest surviving Alpha Romeo of 1921 ended up as part of the show, but the story was that Enzo Ferrari (the founder of Ferrari) was employed by Alpha Romeo as an engineer and race car driver and with his influence Alpha's dominated motor racing during that time. The skills Enzo learnt from his experience became the foundation on which Ferrari was born. We took photo's of cars that you would be familiar with like the 360 Modena, F40, or 550 Marinello but you will also notice many classics that are very rare and you may never see anywhere ever again. These are so rare we didn't know what they were so if you know please tell us.
