Blown XAGT Ford Falcon

There's something about a Blown V8 that grabs your attention.

The XA GT is one of the last of the muscle cars from the late 60's and early 70's to be released from Fords Broadmeadow plant in Melbourne. With the event of the supercar scare when the XA was released came the demise of the infamous Phase IV to follow it's older brother, the XYGTHO's footsteps. Unfortunately, due to political pressure only 3 full XA GT Phase IV were released and a partially completed build with all the HO components given to what is now known as the RPO83 option on the XAGT models.Blown 351 Clevo

Lucky for us today that we can still get to admire some of the classics like Zoran's XAGT. It's not a Phase IV but it would make a Phase IV drool with envy with that powerplant of an engine fitted in the engine bay.

Zoran's XAGT was rebuilt a couple of years ago with a fresh coat of red pepper paintwork keeping the traditional GT style. Zoran has also had the interior trimmed in bone leather with that sense of luxury before you fire up that wicked V8 poking through the bonnet. Keeping an eye on all the essential stuff is a full set of Autometer gauges and shift light tacho.

671 Blower

The engine is built by Big H Racing at Condell Park (big hello to Harry) and the engine bay is a pretty serious 351C, topped with a pair of 750 cfm carbs on a 671 Fischer Blower, sitting on a custom inlet manifold. Heads are worked ported 4V's, with roller rockers, and 30 thou over sized forged pistons. Exhaust is exited via a set of extractors piped into 3 1/5" to 3" shot gun twin exhausts. Hooked up behind the Clevo V8 is a 4 speed top loader, heavy duty triple plate clutch and a trusty 9" rear end to keep in all together when the pedal hits the metal. The XA is rolling on a set of 15 x 7" Bathurst globes with traditional red walled tyres.

Zoran hasn't yet had this baby out on the drag strip to get any numbers but he says the engines good for 745 horsepower and a 10 second run down the quarter mile. Zoran took us for a quick, neck snapping run in his GT and we can say that the power is just awesome to say the least.

So has Zoran got any future plans for the XAGT in the works? "There's are few in the pipeline but nothing I'm willing to spill the beans on just yet" . Well Zoran, we love that blown 351 and look forward to any future mods on the car.
